DRAGNET Dragnet , the brainchild of Jack Webb, may very well be the most well-remembered, and the best, radio police drama series. From September, 1949 through February 1957, Dragnet 's 30 minute shows, broadcast on NBC, brought to radio true police stories in a low-key, documentary style. The origins of Dragnet can be traced to a semi-documentary film, "He Walked by Night" from 1948, in which Webb had a small role. Both employed the same Los Angeles Police Department technical...

The town of Sleepy Hollow received a new teacher, Ichabod Crane (Will Rogers), from New York. Crane already knows of the legend of the phantom Headless Horseman and is sceptical about its truth. This includes 90+ episodes of Dangerous Assignment (1949 and 1950-53) with proper names for the episodes. Also, it's been a common practice to "pad" the episodes of Dangerous Assignment by adding dead air to the end of the recording so that the episode is 32 minutes in length. All such padding has been removed. Episode names obtained from the Digital Deli: http://www.digitaldeliftp.com/DigitalDeliToo/dd2jb-Dangerous-Assignment.html

One of the most unique and uniquely odd film I have seen. Considering when and where it was made, the production values are almost unbelievably high. It seems to have been made in occupied France, with the clear intent to blame the Freemasons as dupes and/or masterminds in engineering the outbreak of war. While proving the premise seems like it would be an uphill battle, the film demonstrates great care in citing historical events within France to back this up. Citing Freemason infiltration...

How do you do, In times of political and social upheaval there is often personal upheaval as well. After trying to adjust to changed conditions, many try to escape, voting with their feet for a different way of life. We are about to meet a man who did just that, but who found that a really new life requires more than geographical change. For him, there was new life only after his heart and mind and life were unshackled. www.pgm.org www.warneveryone.com

Irish bagpipes solo, Parlophone E3615. O'Cronin played with Leo Rowsome in the All Ireland Trio, according to Leo's son Liam. O'Cronin played flute in the group, Leo pipes, Seamus O Mathuna fiddle. O'Cronin also founded the Cork Volunteer Pipe Band. He died in 1930. I have always thought this was Leo himself playing the pipes, it is such beautiful music, and of such a high standard of playing. The original disc had a chip in its side, hence this dub beginning a few seconds into the recording.

For some reason, at the height of Britain's power, the fear of invasion was common at that time. (See 'The Riddle of the Sands', 'The Battle of Dorking', 'Spies of the Kaiser' or even...

These vintage radio commercials from the 1920s thru the 1950s are great fun to listen to and tell you more about American culture than you would ever realize! Filled with catchy jingles, great products, many of which we still used today, and outrageous claims abound! Most of these where sponsors on the old time radio shows. Of all Nietzsche’s books, “The Antichrist” comes nearest to conventionality in...
